Tom Engel

Tom’s career journey started in New York with Condé Nast, where he gained valuable experience in the importance of collaborating with top creative talent and maintaining high professional standards. Later, he transitioned into the interior design industry and worked for a major national luxury showroom. In this role, he had the opportunity to work directly with manufacturer owners, helping them develop their businesses by engaging with interior designers. During this time, Tom learned the significance of controlling manufacturing processes to ensure product quality. He also worked closely with creative professionals who took pride in their work and were solution-oriented.

In 2010, Tom founded Diagonal, a company dedicated to providing design professionals with unique resources not typically found in design centers across the country. Diagonal collaborates with artisans and artists who create custom-made, one-of-a-kind, or limited series works. These exceptional pieces inspire designers and allow them to create highly personalized and distinctive interior spaces for both residential and hospitality settings. Diagonal’s work can be found in private residences, yachts, and luxury hospitality establishments around the world.
